Evaluation- Question 3
This powerpoint shows and explains how our main product fits in with our ancillary task. I believe that we have succeeded in doing this, keeping with the same story line across the music video and adapting this to the ancillary tasks, using similar camera shots and mis en scene to create this effect. As well as this we have also tried to create an image of how we would like our artist to be portrayed. As the music video is based on cheating, we decided to create an a representation of Aletta, sat on a wall, being secretive to portray the meaning of the video.
Evaluation- Question 2
How did you use new technology in the construction
and research, planning and evaluation stages
Throughout our media project we have used many different resources to help assist our work. One of the main programs we used was of course the internet. The internet has been beneficial to our group in many ways. The internet has supported our research stage and planning stages as we had to look through different websites for inspiration for our music videos and ancillary tasks. As well as this the internet has allowed my group to look at different social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. During our research stage we used the internet extensively to view existing music videos, establish a target audience and to work out what kind of genre we were after and how we were going to create this. The internet has also given my group the oppurtunity to communicate with different audiences through various different social networking sites. By setting up a group on Facebook, members are able to see the progress of our group 'Anthem Beatz Records'. Through the help of Web 2.0 we were able to use the internet for the majority of our research and planning. By doing this we were able to research into existing music video's and different artists which helped my group gain ideas of what to include in our music video.
From using a video camera, I was able to pick up many different skills. As I didn't use a video camera in AS meant that this was all new to me. Therefore I had to learn the basics of how the camera functioned. I then was able to frame different shot types, zoom in and out on the video camera and use a tripod so our music video was at a good quality.
The following powerpoint will explain each program I have used, why I have used it and how it has been beneficial to me and my group in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages and helped us create our final media package.
Evaluation- Question 1: Powerpoint
This Powerpoint highlights certain conventions we have followed for through our music video and what conventions we have challenged.
Evaluation- Question 1
Brief Over View of Conventions
Our task was to create a music video along with a digi pack including a poster and a CD cover. In order to create a successful music video and digi pack we had to follow the conventions of the original music video as well as using our own ideas. My group chose the song ‘When your gone’ by Avril Lavigne. We have tried to include the different conventions to match what the music video is aiming to portray. Our video only consists of one storyline, this is straight away breaking the conventions of Avril Lavignes ‘When you’re gone’ music video as her music video has at least two storylines playing throughout the performance. Our storyline aims to create a cheating and heartbreak atmosphere and the audience will choose to sympathize with the characters included. This is our main focus throughout the music video.

We also looked at the different camera angles and how this is used to create an effect. We chose to stick to the camera angles which are used continuously throughout the original music video, as we felt this was very effective. Different camera angles which we saw throughout the original music video include mid shots and medium close ups. Therefore my group’s main focus for this music video was to include this selection of performance shots to help relate these conventions to our music video.
The original storylines in Avril Lavignes video is a couple
being apart from eachother as the male has to go into the army and the ‘I miss
you’ feature is revealed when the female watches the news to find out if he is
still alive. The second story line features a teenage male and female who love
eachother however the mother of the daughter does not agree with the situation. Therefore chooses to break them apart, and we
see the boyfriend missing his girlfriend. The last story is based on a much
older male who is holding a photo of his late wife, and cherishing the memories
they spent together. My group decided to
break away from these conventions and make our video more modern. Therefore
used the storyline of a young couple who are engaged, however the boyfriend is
seeing another girl which ends in disaster.

When Your Gone- The Lyrics
We chose the song 'when your gone' to feature in our music video. The lyrics are based on missing someone who you love and missing everything about them. The original music video relates to heart break and looking at memories from different story lines. Therefore for our music video we chose to create a music video which would reflect the atmosphere and meaning of the song, keeping the theme of sadness and heartbreak flowing through the music video.
Here are the lyrics which tell the story of our music video and relate to someone who you miss and who you once loved.

Test Shots
Before we started to plan our music video we thought it would be appropriate to do a few test shots to see if they would be ideal to include in our music video. The test shots which are featured on the left hand side of the page illustrate a scene in our music video, which allows to see what works and what we would need to work on in order for our music video to flow properly.
The test shots also include the characters which we will include in our music video. This gives us an idea of how the characters will look like while acting and how we can improve on our scenes before we film the actual music video.

Story Boards of our video
These are our story boards which we have created to create an understanding of what we are after in our music video. Creating a story board will allow my group to see the camera angles and types of shots we are after. The story board also explains what my group are trying to aim for.

The next steps
So far, me and my group have filmed footage of our narrative and performance shots and have edited this into our music video. The next steps which my group need to follow is adding and filming more performance shots, and narrative shots which we will add to our video to complete our project. We will be changing the costumes of our performance shots and changing the way we frame our shots for more variation, planning this through story boarding and discussing and communicating with my group to gain the best outcome possible.
From researching different music videos of the pop/rock genre we will follow a similar story line. The song 'when your gone' is about loosing someone and what its like after they have gone, therefore we have so far added in a couple story line which turns into arguing. After this we are planning to add in a short brief story of a mother and daughter story line.
After this is complete we will then complete the ancillary tasks. In order to complete this we will research into different posters and CD covers which are already current, as well as our chosen song and take inspiration from the research we gained. Our poster and cd cover will represent our music company and the music video we have chosen to create.
